For over 25 years the Kiwanis Foundation of Huntington Beach has awarded scholarships to qualifying Key Win's and Key Club seniors who have been accepted by an institution of higher learning. The program is intended to reward members for achieving superior academic results as well as participating in the various community activities of the Kiwanis Club of Huntington Beach such as Project CHERISH, Clothe the Children and similar good works. Scholarship rules and applications are distributed during the Spring trimester so that students can complete their submission for the Scholarship Committee's review. Chris Gillison, a retired educator, has Chaired the review process for a number of years. He has been supported by another retired educator, Bill Ridenour, Bill Ellis and two other Kiwanis members. Winning applicants receive their scholarship awards during school assemblies, and they are also recognized during an early June Kiwanis luncheon meeting.
